Saint John Eudes and the French Oratory
In 1623, after studying with the Jesuits in Caen, John Eudes joined the Society of the Oratory in Paris, founded by Pierre de Bérulle. Inspired by the vision of Philip Neri, the community remains committed to preaching, liturgy, spiritual guidance, and Christian formation.
Robert Fleuret’s account revisits Eudes’ meeting with Bérulle, the church on Rue Saint-Honoré, and the early days of John Eudes in the community. It also recalls that the church, now a Protestant temple, bears witness to these successive chapters.
